LONG ISLAND - The Long Island Nets (2-2), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, defeated the Birmingham Squadron (1-3), 112-104, on Tuesday evening at Nassau Coliseum. Five Nets scored in double figures in the win, including Long Island forward Kendall Brown, who recorded 25 points, two rebounds, three assists and two steals in 38 minutes. Shawn Szydlowski Announces Retirement
Fort Wayne, IN - After 14 seasons as a pro and 10 with the Fort Wayne Komets, forward Shawn Szydlowski has announced his retirement from professional hockey. Szydlowski, 34, played his first pro game in 2011 with the Portland Pirates of the AHL. After stints with Rochester (AHL), Gwinnett (ECHL), and Fort Worth (CHL), he was assigned to Komets from the Buffalo Sabers, making his Memorial Coliseum debut on October 23, 2013. In his tenure with the Komets, the St. Clair Shores, Michigan native played in 528 regular-season games, scoring 189 goals and 321 assists, making him 10th on the Komets ... Over the past week, the San Diego Clippers acquired Jalen Adaway from waivers, and Keyshawn Bryant and Shakur Daniel from the player pool. Jalen Adaway joins the Clippers after a standout career internationally, most recently with Fuerza Regia de Monterrey (Mexican Liga Nacional de Baloncesto), where he played 26 games and averaged 12.3 points and 6.1 rebounds in 27 minutes per game. INDIANAPOLIS, In. - The Indiana Mad Ants returned home on Tuesday afternoon to take on the Maine Celtics. The club had the luxury of having all three two-way players plus Johnny Furphy who was on assignment from the Pacers. The Mad Ants saw career performances from first-year pros Enrique Freeman and RayJ Dennis while Quenton Jackson provided some scoring depth with 23 points.
